TRNC Seeks Sovereign Recognition and Equal Status
Islamabad: Minister for Labour and Social Security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, met members of the Pakistani media in Islamabad on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States.
During the interaction, Minister Hasipoğlu presented the TRNC’s position on the Cyprus issue, stressing the principles of sovereign equality and equal international status for the Turkish Cypriot people.
He said the people of the TRNC seek recognition as a sovereign state and should have the right to represent themselves in the international community.
The minister also referred to the TRNC’s growing engagement with Islamic countries and underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Muslim world. He appreciated Pakistan’s constructive stance on the TRNC issue and acknowledged the contribution of Pakistanis living in the TRNC.
Minister Hasipoğlu also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East, highlighting the need for dialogue, regional stability and closer cooperation among OIC member states in addressing shared challenges.
The meeting offered an opportunity for a constructive exchange of views between the TRNC minister and Pakistani journalists on regional and international issues.
