PM Shehbaz Sharif Expresses Solidarity with Iran’s President Amid U.S. Strikes, Calls for Diplomatic Resolution
Muslim Leaders Urge Dialogue, Unity Following U.S.–Iran Escalation

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Iran in the wake of recent U.S. airstrikes. The discussion underscored regional tensions following the attacks on Iranian facilities, which came in the aftermath of Israel’s recent military actions.
During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the U.S. strikes, calling them a dangerous escalation triggered by Israel’s “unprovoked and unjustified aggression.” He extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Pakistani nation over the loss of lives and expressed prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister also voiced serious concerns that the targeted facilities were under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and noted that the strikes constituted a grave violation of both IAEA protocols and broader international law.
Citing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter — which recognizes the right to self-defense — Shehbaz Sharif stressed the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy, calling it the only viable path to peace. He emphasized that all parties must work collectively to de-escalate the situation and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting regional stability.
President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its strong support, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif, the Government of Pakistan, and its people — including the military leadership — for standing in solidarity with Iran during this challenging time.
Both leaders agreed on the critical need for unity among Muslim nations and emphasized the importance of close coordination in the days ahead. They also committed to maintaining regular contact as developments unfold.
