Pakistan Boosts Immunization Efforts with New Initiatives

Federal Minister for Health Initiates Strategic Overhaul to Boost Immunization Coverage Nationwide
The Federal Minister for Health has convened a high-level meeting to develop a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI). The initiative seeks to improve immunization rates across the country through enhanced public awareness, increased stakeholder collaboration, and the implementation of a robust feedback system.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the current status of immunization efforts and issued directives to launch a nationwide Awareness Campaign. This campaign will leverage all major media outlets and platforms to disseminate key messages about Routine Immunization and Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPDs), with the goal of raising public consciousness and encouraging community participation in immunization programs.
Recognizing the critical role of partnerships, the Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation with development partners and donors. The Ministry of National Health Services reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening interagency coordination and providing full support to ensure the effective rollout of immunization initiatives. To facilitate this, regular coordination meetings with provincial health officials will be scheduled starting in July to align efforts and accelerate progress at the regional levels.
Additionally, the Minister underscored the urgent need to establish a comprehensive Complaint Management System. This platform aims to serve as both an awareness tool and a mechanism for addressing vaccination-related concerns swiftly. The system will enable effective response to public inquiries through helplines, ensuring that vaccination issues are resolved promptly and efficiently, thereby fostering greater trust and participation in immunization programs nationwide.
