Rainy Season Plant Care in PHA Rawalpindi Parks and Green Belts

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi has initiated comprehensive measures to safeguard plants and flowers in city parks and green belts amid warnings of heavy rainfall, while also enhancing cleanliness operations and improving rain harvesting systems.
Following an alert issued by the Meteorological Department for heavy rains in Rawalpindi, the Parks and Horticulture Authority has stepped up efforts to prevent possible damage to greenery, flowers, and plants across city parks and green spaces. Under the directive of Director General PHA Rawalpindi, Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, special preventive actions are being undertaken to preserve the beauty of parks and promote a greener city environment.
PHA teams have intensified their routine cleaning, horticultural maintenance, and protection measures in parks and green belts citywide. Workers are actively engaged in ensuring that accumulated rainwater is quickly removed to prevent water stagnation, which can affect the health and freshness of flowers and plants. Moreover, efforts were made to enhance the visual appeal and environmental benefits provided by these green areas.
In addition to basic maintenance, the authority is placing particular emphasis on rain harvesting methods to efficiently utilize rainwater and prevent urban flooding. These improved rain harvesting measures aim to capture excess rainwater for irrigation and other beneficial uses, ensuring sustainable management of natural resources, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.
DG Ahmed Hassan Ranjha reiterated the importance of protecting and nurturing green spaces, highlighting how planting and caring for trees contributes positively toward tackling climate change and promoting a healthy urban environment. He urged public cooperation, calling upon residents to actively participate in tree planting initiatives and make it their national duty. According to Ranjha, nurturing trees and maintaining green environments aligns closely with the vision of the Punjab government, which actively supports increased greenery and better ecological management in Rawalpindi.
The Authorities have made clear that continuing such measures and encouraging greater civic engagement in planting and protecting urban greenery will significantly bolster efforts to mitigate climate-related challenges and enhance the overall quality of life for residents of Rawalpindi.
