ISLAMABAD, July 29: The National Curriculum Council Wing of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has launched a pilot of the Digital Life Skills-Based Education Learning Management System for Grade 4, in collaboration with UNFPA Pakistan and Act International.
The initiative was formally inaugurated at Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, where Secretary Federal Education and Professional Training Nadeem Mahbub was the chief guest.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Mahbub said quality education was not limited to classroom learning alone, but also aimed at equipping children with practical skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, problem-solving and sound decision-making.
The three-month pilot will initially be implemented in 20 public and private schools in Islamabad. These include eight schools under the Federal Directorate of Education system and 12 schools associated with PEIRA and JICA.
During the pilot phase, the usefulness and accessibility of the digital platform will be reviewed, along with its impact on students’ learning outcomes.
UNFPA Pakistan Deputy Country Representative Dr Guldnara Kadyrkulova said digital life skills education would play an important role in helping children become healthy, responsible and empowered citizens.
On the basis of the pilot’s findings, the programme will be expanded in phases to other grades, schools and different parts of the country.
