Corporate Reporting Transparency in Pakistan Private Sector

Transparency International Pakistan (TI-P) and the Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR) met to discuss enhancing corporate transparency and improving compliance with human rights standards in Pakistan’s private sector. The conversation was based around TI Pakistan’s recent report, “Transparency in Corporate Reporting,” which highlights key areas such as financial openness, human rights due diligence, and gender non-discrimination practices.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the findings of TI Pakistan’s report, examining the current levels of transparency among businesses in Pakistan. Special attention was given to evaluating compliance with financial transparency measures, ensuring due diligence regarding human rights responsibilities, and addressing gender-based non-discrimination within companies.

Both TI Pakistan and MoHR underscored the need for strong collaboration to raise awareness among Pakistani companies about the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. They discussed joint efforts in educating and sensitizing the private sector about human rights obligations and responsible corporate practices.

Finally, the meeting also highlighted the importance of regulatory reforms. Both groups agreed on advocating mandatory disclosure mechanisms that would require businesses to transparently report their efforts in financial accountability, human rights protections, and gender equality in their annual reports.
