Kenyan Delegation Explores Mango Processing with TDAP

A four-member delegation from Kenya’s Horticulture Crops Directorate recently met with Mr. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Chief Executive of Pakistan’s Trade Development Authority (TDAP), during an official visit aimed at exploring the procurement of hot water treatment plants and other value-added agricultural equipment from Pakistan.

The delegation, headed by Ms. Christine Chesaro, stated the Kenyan government’s intention to establish a Common Processing Facility dedicated to mango treatment in Nairobi. Highlighting this strategic plan, the delegation visited advanced processing and packaging facilities in Khanewal and Sargodha, facilitated by TDAP. Upon inspection, delegates expressed appreciation for the technology and high standards of mango orchards they observed, noting positively the consistent implementation of international best agricultural practices by Pakistani farmers and producers.

During the meeting, TDAP’s Chief Executive, Mr. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral trade between Kenya and Pakistan, stressing the significant potential and mutual advantages for both economies. Mr. Chadhar specifically highlighted Kenya’s key role as a major export destination for Pakistani rice and advocated for increased sourcing by Kenyan governmental and private-sector entities. Moreover, he noted Pakistan’s preference for importing high-quality Kenyan tea, underlining existing complementarities between both economies across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, value-added agricultural products, textiles, processed foods, engineering goods, and agricultural machinery.

The delegation acknowledged the positive contribution of TDAP to the promotion of bilateral trade under Pakistan’s strategic “Look Africa” policy—an initiative aimed at strengthening trade ties between Pakistan and African countries. Delegates expressed gratitude to TDAP’s leadership and the Pakistani government’s vision of prioritizing Africa as a key economic partner for Pakistan’s export sector.
