**Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretary General Meets President Xi Jinping to Deepen Multilateral Cooperation**

Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the People’s Assembly House during a ceremony for presenting credentials by foreign ambassadors, underscoring renewed commitments to strengthen collaboration between the SCO and China. The event brought together diplomatic representatives from a wide range of countries, highlighting the importance China places on multilateral relations and international engagement.

During the meeting, Secretary General Yermekbayev expressed his gratitude to President Xi for the confidence placed in him by both China and other SCO member states. In turn, President Xi reiterated his support for the comprehensive activities undertaken by the SCO, emphasizing the organization’s growing role in regional cooperation.

Following the bilateral discussions, Yermekbayev joined the assembled ambassadors in attending President Xi’s welcoming address. President Xi highlighted the significant achievements realized by China in socio-economic development, and confirmed China’s willingness to deepen friendship and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with other nations. He emphasized that these relationships would be built on principles of equality and mutual respect.

President Xi called on foreign ambassadors and the SCO Secretary General to become envoys of friendship and serve as bridges for international cooperation, urging them to gain a comprehensive and profound understanding of China.

The ceremony was attended by ambassadors from over a dozen nations, including Vietnam, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Albania, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Angola, Egypt, Nicaragua, Iran, Chile, Ukraine, Benin, the United States, Israel, and South Sudan, reflecting the event’s wide diplomatic reach.

As part of the event, Secretary General Yermekbayev also signed the honored guests’ book at the House of National Assemblies, marking the significance of the occasion and the commitment to ongoing international dialogue.
