Expanding Girls’ Education Access in Pakistan’s ALP Centres

A growing number of children in Pakistan, particularly girls, remain out of school, placing their futures at risk. To address this challenge, the Royal Norwegian Embassy has extended significant support to UNICEF’s Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP), enabling more than 6,500 children—including almost 5,000 girls—in the provinces of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh to access education.
Recently, a delegation from the Norwegian embassy visited two ALP centers in marginalized areas of Peshawar. During their visit, they interacted with both students and teachers to observe the programme’s impact firsthand. The ALP offers flexible and quality learning opportunities, helping out-of-school children catch up on basic education, transition to formal schools, or develop valuable skills for better prospects.
The partnership provides not only trained educators but also essential supplies, including menstrual hygiene kits, and fosters community support networks. Together, these efforts aim to create an inclusive learning environment and ensure that no child is left behind.
