Boosting Balochistan SMEs Through Federal Partnership
Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, held a significant meeting with Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti to discuss enhanced cooperation between the federal and provincial governments for the promotion of SMEs. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Industries and Production where Mr Akhtar Khan welcomed the chief minister, focused on practical measures to strengthen local industry and market competitiveness.
Both leaders reiterated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to empower SMEs and women, underlining that provincial collaboration is essential for nationwide growth. Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that all provinces must work together, following the prime minister’s guidance, to develop the country’s micro, small and medium enterprises and to create meaningful economic opportunities.
Agreement was reached to form a joint task force to coordinate efforts specifically for Balochistan SMEs. The planned collaboration will prioritize agriculture-based enterprises, livestock development and initiatives aimed at empowering youth to expand businesses and participate competitively in regional markets.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti affirmed the provincial government’s determination to support SME growth and welcomed federal assistance. He stressed that with combined efforts, Balochistan’s hardworking workforce and abundant opportunities can be translated into stronger regional and national economic performance.
Haroon Akhtar Khan also highlighted the importance of promoting women’s business activity as a core element of the cooperation. Both officials praised existing provincial initiatives and pledged to encourage and support Balochistan’s role in the national SME landscape through targeted programs and coordinated resources.
The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation for ongoing efforts and a commitment to follow up on the task force’s formation and implementation of joint projects that will drive the development of Balochistan SMEs across multiple sectors.
