easypaisa, KTrade Launch Instant Digital PSX Account Opening

ISLAMABAD: easypaisa digital bank and KTrade have entered into a first-of-its-kind collaboration to make stock market investment more accessible for Pakistanis by enabling instant digital onboarding for Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) investment accounts through the easypaisa app.

The partnership was formally announced at a ceremony held in Islamabad last week. The event was attended by senior representatives of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), including Commissioner Muzaffar Mirza, National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) CEO Naveed Qazi, Central Depository Company (CDC) CEO Badiuddin Akber, and senior officials from easypaisa and KTrade.

Under the arrangement, easypaisa users can open a KTrade PSX investment account within 10 minutes through a fully digital onboarding process. The initiative is aimed at removing traditional barriers and paperwork that have restricted wider public participation in Pakistan’s capital markets.

The companies said the collaboration immediately produced a record result, with easypaisa and KTrade registering the highest number of investment accounts opened in a single day in PSX history. The development has been described as a new benchmark for digital wealth creation in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, easypaisa digital bank President and CEO Jahanzeb Khan said the bank’s mission was to unlock access to financial opportunities for every Pakistani.

“Through our partnership with KTrade, we are extending this vision beyond payments and banking into investments, enabling users to participate in Pakistan’s capital markets through a simple, secure and fully digital experience,” he said.

He added that the partnership was another important step towards building a more financially empowered and inclusive Pakistan. Jahanzeb Khan also thanked the SECP, NCCPL and CDC for their continued support in digitising the onboarding of brokerage accounts, saying their efforts had laid the foundation for millions more Pakistanis to participate in the formal investment landscape and support the next phase of growth in Pakistan’s capital markets.

KTrade CEO Mahmood Ali Shah Bukhari said the future of investment depended on accessibility and convenience.

“Through our collaboration with easypaisa, we are bringing the stock market closer to millions of Pakistanis and making wealth creation opportunities available at their fingertips. Together, we are helping cultivate a stronger investment culture in the country,” he said.

Representatives from NCCPL highlighted the importance of digital innovation in expanding investor participation and strengthening Pakistan’s financial ecosystem. CDC was also acknowledged for its supportive role in providing the infrastructure and collaboration required to make the initiative possible.

The partnership is in line with wider national efforts to increase retail participation in capital markets, promote the use of digital financial services and create new avenues for wealth creation among underserved segments of society.

With instant account onboarding, seamless user journeys and secure market access, easypaisa and KTrade said they are helping build a new generation of digital investors and enabling more Pakistanis to take their first step towards long-term financial growth.

easypaisa has more than 60 million registered users and is the country’s first digital bank to commence commercial operations. The bank said it remains aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision of inclusive economic growth and continues to expand its financial products and services for existing users as well as millions of unbanked and underbanked Pakistanis.
