LAHORE: ETS, a global education and talent solutions organisation and the creator of the TOEFL iBT test, hosted a TOEFL Experience Day in Lahore on September 17, 2026, bringing together Pakistan’s English-language trainer and counselling community for a structured orientation on the enhanced test.
The event marked ETS’s first official in-person TOEFL Experience Day in Pakistan. A total of 140 participants attended the programme, including English-language trainers, TOEFL preparation professionals, counsellors, educators and channel partners.
Led by ETS experts and senior leaders from its South Asia team, the training introduced participants to TOEFL’s four strategic pillars: Fair, Agile, Smart and Tailored, collectively referred to as FAST. The sessions also focused on the four skills assessed in the TOEFL iBT test — Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
The programme provided participants with technical guidance on the enhanced TOEFL iBT test format, its delivery and assessment approach. It also gave trainers and counsellors an opportunity to seek clarity on test-related questions and align their preparation methods more closely with the test’s requirements.
Participants were provided official TOEFL preparation and classroom-support material, including the TOEFL Overview Booklet, lesson plans, a study planner, access to TOEFL Practice Online and the pocket edition of the TOEFL Guide. These resources were designed to help trainers and counsellors convert the technical information shared during the programme into structured preparation support for test takers.
Pakistan continues to be seen as a high-potential outbound education market, driven by sustained interest in international higher education and rising demand for English-language proficiency certification. ETS currently operates 10 TOEFL test centres in Pakistan.
The TOEFL iBT Home Edition also expands access for eligible test takers beyond major cities. ETS is working with 100 channel partners in Pakistan to build awareness through student sessions, seminars and local engagement.
Speaking on the occasion, Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, said Pakistan was an important market for international education, with students increasingly assessing destinations on the basis of academic quality, career outcomes and long-term mobility.

Through the TOEFL Experience Day in Lahore, we brought official test information and ETS’s assessment expertise directly to those who guide students every day. By strengthening their understanding of the enhanced TOEFL iBT test, we aim to support more informed preparation and help students access a wider range of international education opportunities,” he said.
The TOEFL Experience Day reflects ETS’s continued engagement with Pakistan’s trainer and education community. By offering direct access to official test information, technical guidance and preparation resources, ETS aims to strengthen support for students and help them approach the TOEFL iBT test and their international education journey with greater clarity and confidence.
