Uzbekistan Denounces UAV Threat Aimed at Holy City of Mecca
ISLAMABAD: The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has strongly condemned the attempted attack involving an unmanned aerial vehicle directed towards the holy city of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent, Uzbekistan expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
The statement said Uzbekistan considers any action threatening holy sites, civilians and civilian infrastructure as unacceptable.
“We call on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, strictly comply with the norms of international law, and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states,” the statement read.
Uzbekistan also voiced support for efforts aimed at lowering tensions, preventing any further spread of the conflict, and ensuring peace, security and stability in the region.
