Pakistan & United States of America – Reestablishing significant Diplomatic Relations.

“We are two nations because of geography. We are now allies thanks to history. We are now allies because of need and economics. Let no man put apart than those whom Lord has indeed united”
John F. Kennedy
Upon Pakistan’s independence in 1947, the US established diplomatic relations with the country. The US cooperates with Pakistan on a broad spectrum of issues, notably energy, trade and development, healthcare, sustainable energy, and combatting climate change, as well as Afghanistan stability and counterterrorism. We respectfully acknowledge the United States’ initiatives, which have been one of the greatest sources of foreign investment in Pakistan and remained the country’s largest market for exports. The United States and Pakistan’s trade and investment relations are strengthening, and the US government is encouraging this cooperation on a business-to-business footing. Business trade delegations provide technical support and promote business opportunities for US businesses seeking to establish commercial relationships with Pakistan.
The US-Pakistan relationship is improving and developing, which will result in significant strategic collaboration. Giving rise US government delegations from the Department of State, including some Under Secretary for International Development, recently visited Islamabad to highlight the significance of our bilateral engagement and our two countries’ shared aims. Moreover, during the American-led counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the US were strong allies. Both the Doha Peace Agreement and the peaceful withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan benefited from Pakistan’s involvement.

Among many of the issues, we consider including improving our closer ties, strengthening our economic links, collaborating to combat the effects of the climate problem, and communicating US cooperation with the Pakistani people as they fight to recover from the tragic floods of 2022. The United States and Pakistan have a friendly relationship based on years of bilateral collaboration and support, and we look forward to further deepening our relationships in trade, assets, the environment, clean energy, health, security, education, and other areas of mutual interest. The visit by the US Delegation gave an opportunity to learn more about the progress Pakistan has achieved in response to the floods and how the US and other donors and partners may most effectively help Pakistan’s sustainable recovery. So far, the United States has provided more than $200 million in aid to Pakistan to enhance disaster protection and flood response activities. Its ongoing aid highlights the bilateral partnership’s durability and the United States’ long-term commitment to Pakistan and its people. The US team addressed security cooperation and counterterrorism initiatives, as well as economic reform and strengthening Pakistan’s regulatory environment to encourage foreign investment, particularly from American companies. Our flood recovery and future opportunities within the US-Pakistan Green Agreement were also highlighted. The Green Coalition builds on the long history of environmental cooperation between the United States and Pakistan and will assist us in fulfilling the agricultural, energy, water, and economic needs of the present and future. Our two countries will work together through the Green Alliance to build vulnerability to climate change, seek energy transformation, and attain excellent economic prosperity.

The US government discussions were focused on the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement Council of 2016, as well as the second Energy Security Dialogue and Climate and Environment Working Group this spring. Pakistan’s government and citizens are obliged to the United States government for their assistance. The United States is one of the nations committed to expanding the full extent of its assistance in terms of trade, security, education, people-to-people, climate, and clean energy cooperation, and ties between the Pakistani and American people in order to promote a more stable, secure, and better future for both our nations.
As a Pakistani citizen, I truly hope that collaboration in this domain may expand further under the Vision of good associations between the United States and Pakistan. It is recommended that the Pakistani community continue to work with zeal and protect the honor of our magnificent nation in order to work together with the United States of America for further progress. May Allah provide us with long-term peace, prosperity & strong ties between Pakistan and America.
Pakistan will live on forever. The United States of America will live forever. Long live the relationship between Pakistan and the United States of America.
