SWAT :- Swat Police and other law enforcement agencies in a joint operation successfully arrested two wanted terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Swat. The arrested terrorists, identified as Rafiullah alais Jawad and Asmatullah were affiliated with the Salim Rabbani group.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, addressed a press conference where he revealed that a couple of weeks ago, a terrorist group entered Pakistan via the Torkham border and made their way into Swat through Mardan.

Prior to their arrest, the terrorists engaged in a firefight with the police, resulting in the death of a civilian named Jamdad Khan and injuries to an elite force personnel named Waqar Khan. The IGP stated that the terrorists had obtained counterfeit ID cards to easily travel to their desired destinations.

The arrested terrorists had planned to target former Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs), Village Defense Committee members, and other locals for extortion and ransom purposes. The IGP emphasized that both terrorists were from Swat, and the police also arrested their accomplice, Asmatullah.

A huge amount of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession. Akhtar Hayat Khan further mentioned that Swat is a popular tourist destination, and every year, attempts are made from a neighbouring country to disrupt the peace and stability in the region.

However, due to the diligent efforts and bravery of the police and other law enforcement agencies, the malicious intentions of the terrorists were thwarted. The IG reiterated that the peace of Swat would not be compromised, and the facilitators of terrorists would be arrested in the near future.
