The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to provide a written clarification on the decision from India to not tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025.
The cricket board expressed its dissatisfaction with the proposed hybrid model, urging the ICC to ensure the tournament is fully hosted within Pakistan, as originally scheduled.
As per ESPNCricinfo, PCB has firmly rejected the hybrid format, which would see the matches of India played at a neutral location, possibly in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament unfolds in Pakistan.
The cricket authority in Pakistan emphasized that it is unwilling to host a partial tournament, reiterating that the event should remain entirely in Pakistan.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) previously informed the PCB that the Indian team would not be able to travel to Pakistan, attributing the decision to government restrictions.
The reluctance of India comes as no surprise, given they last toured Pakistan over 20 years ago, although Pakistan participated in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
The issue has escalated with PCB asking the Pakistan government to engage directly in the matter, as both countries remain in the same tournament group.
The firm stance of PCB on hosting all matches in Pakistan reflects the complex political and sporting relationship between the two nations.
