Pakistan Mediation Advances for Middle East Peace
At the Cullen Breakfast in Wellington this morning Pakistani officials outlined Pakistan mediation efforts in the current Middle East crisis to a diverse audience, explaining the practical diplomatic steps being taken to open channels of dialogue and reduce regional tensions.
Pakistan mediation was presented as part of a broader strategic role: speakers described Pakistan as the geopolitical pivot of Asia and a net security provider for the region, a Middle Power with agency that is investing significant political and diplomatic capital to press for an end to the war and a durable peace in the Middle East.
Those addressing the gathering warned that the stakes extend well beyond the immediate conflict zone, with the financial and energy security of billions across the Asia-Pacific and the wider world at risk. They said Pakistan mediation seeks to protect regional stability and support measures that safeguard trade, energy flows and economic resilience for Pakistan and its neighbours.
