PTA Celebrates Landmark Achievement: Pakistan Surpasses 200 Million Telecom Subscribers

2 Million Fiber Connections Mark Pakistan’s Digital Growth Surge

Islamabad – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a landmark achievement: Pakistan has officially surpassed 200 million telecom subscribers, marking a significant moment in the country’s digital transformation. With 150 million broadband users and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) connections, this milestone underscores Pakistan’s rapidly growing digital infrastructure and PTA’s dedication to inclusive connectivity.

To commemorate this national achievement, PTA in collaboration with all major Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs)—Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong, and SCO—is offering a special one-day incentive to users. On June 20, 2025, mobile users can avail 2GB of free data and 200 free on-net minutes (valid for 24 hours) by dialing short code *2200#, available across all mobile networks.

Beyond celebration, PTA is also advancing digital inclusion initiatives, particularly aimed at empowering female students. In partnership with PTCL, Transworld, Nayatel, Cybernet, and Wateen, PTA is rolling out free Wi-Fi hotspots across HEC-recognized universities, including dedicated women’s institutions. These hotspots will remain active for six months, enabling improved access to digital education and online resources.

As part of its broader commitment to digital equity, mobile manufacturers have donated 200 locally assembled smartphones to be distributed among female SIM owners. The distribution will be conducted through computerized balloting across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The PTA reiterated its vision of a connected and digitally empowered Pakistan, reaffirming that this milestone is not just about numbers but about national progress, accessibility, and inclusion.
