Saudi Parliamentary Delegation Visits Pakistan Parliament to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

A high-level Saudi delegation from the Shura Council recently visited the Pakistani Parliament, marking a significant step toward enhancing parliamentary, diplomatic, and people-to-people relations between the two brotherly nations. Led by Major General (Retired) Dr. Abdulrahman bin Sunhat Al-Harbi, the three-member Saudi-Pakistan Friendship Group’s visit was characterized by warm receptions, detailed briefings, and reaffirmed commitments to further deepen their longstanding ties.

The delegation’s arrival at the National Assembly House was marked by cordial welcomes from Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah and Pakistani legislators. During their visit, the Saudi delegates expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to them and described their experience as memorable and valuable. The Pakistani officials provided an extensive briefing on the legislative process, procedures, and the historical background of the National Assembly, which elicited keen interest and engaged questions from the Saudis, highlighting a shared commitment toward strengthening legislative cooperation.

Prominent Pakistani parliamentarians, including Sahr Camran, Rina Anser, Syed Hifazuddin, Dr. Shazeya Sobiya Aslam Soomro, Fari Niaz Akbar, Musarrat Rafiq Mahesar, Mirza Iqbal Baghari, Mian Khan Bughati, Dr. Shahida Rehman, and Syed Abrar Shah, were present during the delegation’s visit, emphasizing the importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Following the visit to the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah hosted a lunch for the Saudi-PAK Parliamentary Friendship Committee members. The event focused on fostering further parliamentary, diplomatic, and social cooperation. During his speech, the Deputy Speaker expressed optimism that the Saudi delegation’s visit would serve as a milestone in strengthening legislative exchanges. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to expand bilateral relations and facilitate future exchanges of parliamentary delegations.

The Saudi delegation, comprising three members including the head of the Saudi-Pakistani Parliamentary Friendship Committee, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and praised Pakistan for its friendship, sincerity, and respect. They reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening relations across all sectors, particularly at the parliamentary level, to foster closer cooperation and mutual development.

To recognize the significance of the visit, the Deputy Speaker presented the Saudi guests with commemorative shields symbolizing the enduring brotherly bonds between the two countries. The delegation also included respected figures such as Ms. Eman Bint Abdulaziz Al-Jabreen and Engr. Saleh Bin Ali Al-Shahrani.

The event was attended by several Pakistani ministers, including Dr. Tariq Fazal Choudhry and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, alongside members of the National Assembly such as Shista Provez Malik, Syed Naveed Qamar, Mir Aamer Ali Khan Magsi, Asad Alam Niazi, and Zeba Jaffer, underscoring the broad political support for strengthening Pakistan-Saudi relations.

This visit underscores a mutual desire to enhance parliamentary cooperation and expand ties beyond diplomatic channels, setting a foundation for future collaboration aimed at further reinforcing the historic relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
