Karachi Braces for Rain and Thunderstorm Amid Monsoon Surge

The Met Office has forecast rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Karachi today, influenced by a robust monsoon system, local media reported.

The city is currently experiencing cloudy weather, with light to heavy rainfall expected across various areas, according to the weather report. The ongoing monsoon spell is set to continue until tomorrow, with intermittent breaks.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has indicated that the rainfall is expected during the daytime today. The maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to range between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, with 75 percent humidity. Westerly winds are blowing at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.

Sarfaraz also noted that the sea breeze has slowed due to the presence of low pressure in the Arabian Sea. “The sea winds could restore by the evening or night tomorrow,” he added.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had earlier forecast rainfall in Karachi and several other districts of Sindh with the entry of a robust monsoon system on Monday. The forecast predicts that various districts of Sindh will receive rain until today.

Rain is expected in Karachi, Mithi, Sanghar, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Chhore, Padidan, Mohenjo-daro, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu until July 30th, with occasional gaps. Heavy rainfall is also expected in some areas.
