Strengthening Teams Through Conflict Resolution

On 15 November 2025 a one-day Conflict Resolution workshop at PODA Nara Mughlan brought together teachers, farm staff and Sui Dhaaga team members to address everyday workplace tensions and improve collaboration. Organized with Horizontal PARADIGM as the knowledge partner, the session concentrated on practical skills staff can use immediately to reduce misunderstandings and ease escalation.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Hira Imam and Mr. Ahmad Hussain Badar, who guided participants through the psychological triggers that often turn small disagreements into larger disputes. Facilitators emphasized the importance of early intervention, explaining how timely dialogue and simple mediation steps can prevent issues from becoming entrenched.

Participants learned core Conflict Resolution techniques such as active listening, empathy, and respect for diverse opinions, with clear instruction on maintaining a problem-solving mindset. The facilitators demonstrated step-by-step conflict-resolution models focused on identifying root causes, exploring every party’s perspective, generating mutually beneficial options, and agreeing on practical, actionable solutions.

Practical approaches were showcased throughout the day, including non-violent communication, negotiation strategies, and basic mediation methods that are relevant to the local working environment. These methods were illustrated through role plays and real-life examples so staff could see how to apply them during routine interactions across departments.

Interactive group exercises invited attendees to analyze workplace scenarios, surface existing challenges such as communication gaps and workload misunderstandings, and propose workable solutions. Each group presented findings that sparked constructive dialogue and collective problem solving, reinforcing the workshop’s focus on shared responsibility for a healthier workplace culture.

During an open discussion session, staff raised specific concerns about interpersonal friction and coordination problems. The frank exchange helped identify recurring patterns and offered immediate recommendations to strengthen trust and cooperation between units, lessons that local teams can adapt to their day-to-day routines.

By the end of the workshop the PODA team committed to ending ongoing conflicts through a renewed culture of mutual support and respectful communication. Certificates were distributed to all participants in recognition of their active engagement and willingness to implement Conflict Resolution practices across the organisation.

The training was widely described by attendees as highly productive, leaving staff better prepared to identify, manage and resolve disputes in a positive, professional way that supports PODA’s community-focused work in Nara Mughlan.
