Youth-led Innovation Shines at Islamabad Pitch Fest

Youth-led innovation took center stage as 30 impressive young changemakers from Swat presented their pioneering social enterprises addressing critical real-world issues at the National Pitch Fest held in Islamabad. Showcasing solutions ranging from eco-tourism and clean water initiatives to biodiversity preservation and women’s empowerment, these young entrepreneurs demonstrated inspiring potential for sustainable social impact.
Organized by the Hashoo Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Pakistan and the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), the event provided young innovators from Swat a prominent platform to display their entrepreneurial vision. Participants pitched innovative ideas designed to tackle key issues impacting their communities and the broader society, highlighting fresh perspectives aimed at driving positive change.
The presented enterprises particularly demonstrated ingenuity in areas such as eco-tourism, striving to promote sustainable local travel while protecting natural ecosystems. Other pitches focused on improving access to clean drinking water, showcasing scalable yet cost-effective models to alleviate challenges in water-stressed communities. Several young changemakers underscored biodiversity conservation through creative awareness campaigns and practical community-based solutions aimed at protecting local habitats.
Women’s empowerment was another central theme among the initiatives featured at the National Pitch Fest. Participants emphasized economic independence, education, and inclusive community development as fundamental components of strengthening the role of women in local societies. Their initiatives highlighted effective strategies and demonstrated the critical importance of empowering women and girls as an essential step toward lasting socio-economic development.
The National Pitch Fest was made possible through the generous financial support of the European Union in Pakistan, showcasing a shared commitment with the Hashoo Foundation, UNODC Pakistan, and NACTA to support youth-driven innovation and empowerment. Such collaborations serve not only to recognize and amplify young innovators’ efforts but also to create further opportunities for sustainable growth across Pakistan.
