Nation Mourns Renowned Flautist Syed Arif Jafri

Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Syed Arif Jafri, the former Director of Performing Arts at the National Art Council. The minister described the loss as significant for Pakistan’s cultural community and said the Ministry pays rich tribute to his lifelong services.

Syed Arif Jafri was recognised as one of the country’s most renowned flute players and played a prominent role in the promotion of music across Pakistan. He pursued advanced musical education abroad and devoted his life to nurturing and promoting musical talent at home, strengthening the performing arts scene.

The late artist was also an accomplished author, best known for his book Asian Music. His remarkable contributions to fine arts and his mentorship of emerging musicians will be remembered by students, peers and cultural institutions throughout the country.

The funeral will be held today (Tuesday) at 7:00 p.m. at H-11 Graveyard in Islamabad.
