Monsoon Plantation Drive Launch in Peshawar for Greener Communities

Peshawar has launched a new Monsoon Plantation Drive, spearheaded by Shariq Riaz, Vice Chairman of Youth Lead Climate Change (YLCC) Pakistan and Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Peshawar. The initiative seeks to enhance the city’s green spaces and contribute to the fight against climate change by planting trees at the onset of the monsoon season.

The drive emphasizes the importance of urban afforestation, utilizing the monsoon’s favorable conditions to increase sapling survival rates. Organizers believe that expanding Peshawar’s tree cover will not only improve local air quality but also help the city adapt to the growing challenges posed by climate change.

Mr. Riaz’s leadership has been praised by YLCC Pakistan, which credits his efforts with inspiring both young people and wider communities to take practical steps to protect the environment. The plantation campaign is positioned as a collaborative effort to promote environmental stewardship and foster a healthier, more climate-resilient Peshawar.

By mobilizing community involvement and focusing on sustainable urban development, the Monsoon Plantation Drive aims to lay the groundwork for a greener future, encouraging residents of Peshawar to participate in creating lasting positive change for generations to come.
