Gender-Responsive Policing for Justice in Pakistan

A high-level dialogue held at the Federal Judicial Academy under the EU-funded Deliver Justice Project brought together senior judges, policymakers, and law enforcement experts to advance gender-responsive policing in Pakistan. The event featured Judge Faryal Zia Mufti, Judge Hajira Rehman, Member of National Assembly Huma Akhter Chughtai, and Umer Riaz, former Director General of PVE at NACTA.

The participants discussed strategies to integrate gender-sensitive practices into the country’s policing and justice systems. They emphasized the importance of survivor-centered procedures, increased accountability, and the implementation of pro-women legislation. The dialogue highlighted the need for systemic reforms to make justice delivery more inclusive and equitable for women, aiming to create a framework where victims of gender-based violence receive better support and legal protection.

These discussions are seen as significant steps toward building a responsive justice system that recognizes and addresses the unique challenges faced by women in Pakistan. The collaborative efforts underscore a commitment to long-term change that prioritizes equal rights and effective justice for all.
