Enhancing Rawalpindi Sports and Security

Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, inaugurated upgraded facilities at Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex in Rawalpindi, advancing Rawalpindi sports infrastructure while delivering a firm message of zero tolerance against terrorism. The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister for Sports & Culture Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, members of the provincial assembly, the Deputy Commissioner, prominent sports personalities, athletes and sports department officials.

Chaudhry emphasized the government s commitment to youth development under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and described the new facilities as state of the art investments in local talent. The project includes the complex s first dedicated athletes hostel, enabling the venue to host national and international teams, and a separate women s gymnasium established on the Chief Minister s directives, measures designed to broaden access and strengthen Rawalpindi sports opportunities.

Reflecting on national progress, he noted that when the government assumed office Pakistan faced economic challenges and international isolation, and said recent efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir have helped restore the country s standing, opening space for renewed investment in community and sporting programs.

Responding to recent security concerns, Chaudhry affirmed the nation stands united against terrorism, praising the sacrifices of the security forces and stating all threats to national stability will be met with unwavering resolve. He added that a secure environment is essential for Rawalpindi sports to flourish and for the city to attract competitive events that benefit athletes and young people across the region.
