RDA Anti-Encroachment Operation Along Nullah Lai

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched a major crackdown to remove illegal encroachments along the banks of Nullah Lai. This measure aims to restore order and promote a cleaner urban environment in Rawalpindi, in line with the directives from the Punjab government.

According to an RDA spokesperson, the anti-encroachment operation began on the instructions of the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak, and the Director General RDA, Kinza Murtaza. The RDA Enforcement Squad targeted several key locations, including Katarian Bridge, Dhoke Naju, Sheikh Rashid Bridge, and Gawalmangdi Bridge, taking firm action against all forms of unauthorized construction and settlement.

The drive was closely supervised by Director Land RDA, Malik Ghazanfar Ali Awan, in coordination with the Assistant Commissioner of Rawalpindi City, MCR officials, and other relevant authorities. Officials stressed that illegal construction or the dumping of solid waste and garbage along Nullah Lai will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Director General Kinza Murtaza highlighted that the crackdown is being conducted as per explicit instructions from the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has enforced a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal developments, encroachments, and unauthorized commercial activities. Violators will face strict legal consequences, including the lodging of FIRs, and enforcement actions will be applied without any discrimination.

The RDA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law in development zones and ensuring a safe, clean, and sustainable environment for the residents of Rawalpindi.
