Boosting RCCE Training for Health Spokespersons
NIH, WHO and the Pandemic Fund have successfully concluded a capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening global health security through focused RCCE training. The collaborative programme concentrated on practical spokesperson skills to improve how public health messages are delivered and received during crises.
The curriculum emphasised enhancing Risk Communication and Community Engagement techniques for professionals operating at national and subnational levels, ensuring spokespersons are prepared to convey clear, trusted and timely information. Participants practised messaging strategies designed to maintain public confidence and support rapid, coordinated responses when emergencies arise.
For Pakistan, stronger RCCE training helps bridge national policy with local implementation, reinforcing readiness across provinces and districts. By prioritising community engagement and consistent communication, the workshop aimed to reduce confusion, counter misinformation and foster collaboration between health authorities and the public.
Organisers highlighted that sustained investment in spokesperson capacity is critical for pandemic preparedness and long-term health security. Continued partnerships between agencies will focus on translating these skills into routine practice so that future public health responses are faster, clearer and more trusted.
