Residents Demand Fix for Gas Pipeline Water Issue
Residents of Union Council 31 in Dhok Hakmdad, Rawalpindi, say the problem of water entering gas pipelines has persisted despite repeated requests to Sui Gas. Locals report that the issue continues to disrupt daily life and gas supply because water accumulates inside lines and must be removed before gas flows.
Zaheer Ahmad Awan, chairman of the Citizen Action Committee, told media that Sui Gas crews excavated streets and installed new pipelines after initial complaints, but the new installations have not stopped water from entering the network. According to him, the gas pipeline water problem remains unresolved even after recent repair work.
Households in the area face routine hardships as residents must clear water from pipes early each morning before gas is available. The delay in reliable supply is causing inconvenience and financial loss, especially for families who depend on gas for cooking and daily needs.
Local residents say they have submitted multiple written complaints to the Sui Gas office, but no effective action has followed. If the gas pipeline water issue is not addressed promptly, villagers warn they will stage a sit-in protest outside the Sui Gas office with women, children and the elderly to press their demands.
The community has called on the federal energy minister and the managing director of Sui Gas to take personal notice and order immediate remedial measures to end the prolonged disruption and restore dependable gas service in UC 31.
