PMO Briefed on NDMA Emergency Flood Response Efforts

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, to discuss efforts to support those affected by recent rains and flooding across Pakistan. During the meeting, the Prime Minister received a detailed briefing on the ongoing relief activities as well as preparations for potential future emergencies.
Officials updated the Prime Minister on enhanced cooperation between the NDMA and the Ministry of Climate Change, specifically regarding the activation of an advance warning system in Gilgit-Baltistan. The PM emphasized the need for comprehensive and collaborative disaster management efforts.
The Prime Minister directed the NDMA to strengthen its coordination with provincial authorities to ensure efficient assistance and rehabilitation for people impacted by heavy rains and floods. He also underlined the importance of timely alerts for communities living in vulnerable areas, instructing relevant agencies to provide advance notice in case of any impending emergency situations.
