HRDN Joins UNODC Sports for Peace Strategic Meetup

The Human Resource Development Network (HRDN) participated in a strategic meeting organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to promote the role of sports in fostering peace and social inclusion. The event took place at the Mövenpick Hotel in Islamabad, where HRDN was represented by Chief Executive Officer Ms. Robeela Bangash and Lifetime Member Mr. Waqar Haider Awan.
During the meeting, participants focused on the development of a localized Sports Technical Manual, aimed at addressing community needs and supporting the use of sports as a tool for peacebuilding. The discussion also centered around the planned roadmap for future Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions. These training initiatives are designed to equip individuals with the skills to use sports activities to engage youth and foster a sense of inclusion within their communities.
The collaborative efforts between UNODC and HRDN highlight the growing recognition of sports as an effective medium for promoting harmony and capacity building, especially among young people. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further develop and implement these programs to create a positive impact at the grassroots level.
