Pakistan China Friendship Celebrated Through Calligraphy Art

A special event highlighting the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China was held at the National Language Promotion Department in Islamabad. Organized in collaboration with the Institute for Community with Shared Future at the Communication University of China, Beijing, the event featured a unique calligraphy exhibition celebrating the deep ties between the two countries. Officials, academics, and students gathered to emphasize the important role such cultural exchanges play in strengthening regional peace, development, and mutual understanding.

The ceremony began with the national anthems of both countries, followed by a recitation of the Quran. Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, presided over the ceremony and inaugurated the calligraphy exhibition. In his address, he described the friendship between Pakistan and China as a vital guarantee of peace, progress, and prosperity for the region. The minister underscored that events like this serve as milestones in bringing the two nations closer together at both the public and cultural levels.

Professor Dr. Li Haoliang, Dean at the Institute for Community with Shared Future at the Communication University of China, addressed the gathering via a special video message. He hailed the Pakistan-China relationship as an inspiring global example and stressed that calligraphy serves not only as an art form but also as a means to bring hearts together and strengthen cultural bonds. Dr. Li reaffirmed the commitment of Chinese universities to further enhance cooperation with Pakistani educational institutions, highlighting the exhibition’s importance in fostering connections between youth and artists of both countries.

Wang Shangji, Political and Press Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, represented China at the event and highlighted that such initiatives deepen the peaceful and cooperative relationship both nations enjoy. Dr. Abid Sial from the National University of Modern Languages, who has also taught Urdu in China, praised the exhibition for providing opportunities for greater mutual understanding between the people of Pakistan and China.

Other distinguished speakers, including Shahid Mahmood Khokhar, Chairman of the Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, further emphasized the central role of Pakistan-China relations in regional peace and development. Professor Mazhar expressed gratitude to the federal minister and all participants for supporting and participating in the event.

The exhibition featured calligraphy and artwork by students trained at the National Language Promotion Department’s calligraphy section, showcasing their creative skills and illustrating the vibrant friendship between the two nations through art. As part of the event, a tree-planting campaign was also carried out in the department’s gardens, following special instructions from the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The proceedings concluded with a commemorative group photo and the presentation of flowers to the esteemed guests, celebrating a day marked by unity, culture, and shared aspirations.
