Pakistan’s government has reiterated its commitment to sustainable development by emphasizing a collaborative approach to population management and environmental conservation. During a speech to the Parliamentary Forum on Population, Federal Minister Dr. M Saqib Malik highlighted the importance of consensus and coordinated efforts to balance population growth with resource management, recognizing these as pivotal to the country’s long-term development.
In his address, Dr. Malik emphasized the critical need for effective resource utilization and human development. He pointed out that improving key indicators in health, education, and water supply requires the implementation of concrete, actionable policies. The minister called for long-term strategic planning to accelerate progress across these vital sectors, underscoring their importance for national well-being.
The minister also highlighted several ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering environmentally sustainable economic activities. Among these are support programs for women-led green projects and initiatives designed to empower young entrepreneurs. Additionally, he announced plans to establish a “Green University,” envisioned as a center for research and international collaboration to advance environmental knowledge and promote sustainable practices.
