HSA Students Selected as Millennium Fellows 2025

The Health Services Academy (HSA), Pakistan’s leading public health institute, has earned significant international recognition with its students being selected for the 2025 United Nations Millennium Fellowship. This prestigious honor highlights HSA’s continued commitment to developing future leaders in health who are making positive contributions both locally and globally.

The Millennium Fellowship is a highly competitive global leadership initiative organized by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN). It is designed to empower outstanding undergraduate students worldwide to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through impactful projects in their communities. This year, the programme attracted over 60,000 applicants from more than 7,500 campuses across the world. Only 290 campuses, or about 4 percent, were selected to host Millennium Fellows, and just over 4,000 students received the distinction.

HSA’s selection for this program reflects the academy’s strong international reputation and the dedication of its students to promoting sustainable development, especially within the field of public health. The academy’s students will now join a global network of young leaders, working together on projects that address health equity, empower communities, and support SDG objectives.

Professor Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA, praised the achievement, stating that the recognition is a proud milestone for both the academy and Pakistan. He commended the students’ leadership, innovation, and commitment to confronting the world’s critical health and development challenges, emphasizing that their selection demonstrates HSA’s role in preparing global citizens equipped to shape the future of healthcare and sustainable progress.

The continued success of HSA students in the Millennium Fellowship program showcases the institution’s mission to prepare health professionals who excel in research, practical skills, leadership, and social impact on an international scale. As Millennium Fellows, HSA students will collaborate with peers worldwide to design and implement projects aligned with the SDGs, with a strong focus on public health improvement and community well-being.

To mark this achievement, HSA will host celebrations on campus and actively participate in global virtual events, including the Millennium Fellowship Graduation. The academy also aims to deepen its engagement with initiatives under the United Nations Academic Impact framework to foster further innovation and leadership among its students.

Founded in 1988, the Health Services Academy is recognized as Pakistan’s first degree-awarding institute in public health. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including BS, MS, and PhD degrees, and continues to serve as a center of excellence for research, policy, and education dedicated to advancing public health in Pakistan.
