HPV Vaccination Campaign Gains Private Sector Support

DOPASI Foundation, together with the Federal Directorate of Immunization’s CSO Unit, the Expanded Programme on Immunization and support from Gavi, held an advocacy seminar at the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Hospital to mobilize private health professionals behind Pakistan’s first national HPV vaccination campaign for girls aged 9–14.

The seminar was convened to build private sector support for the government-led effort to introduce HPV vaccination nationwide. Organizers emphasized the importance of engaging private health providers to expand reach, raise awareness, and ensure equitable access to the vaccine across diverse communities.

Senior officials and technical experts attended the event. Speakers included Dr. Sofila Younas, Director General of the Federal Directorate of Immunization, and Dr. Abdul Majeed, Director of PAEC Hospital. Representatives from international and policy bodies also participated, including Dr. Rozina Khalid from WHO, Dr. Saima Zubair, Secretary General of PRHPS, Huma Khawar of Mannion Daniels, Dr. Tabinda Zaffar of Oxford Policy Management, and Dr. Farhaj ud Din from DOPASI Foundation.

Participants concluded the seminar with a commitment to strengthen partnerships with the private health sector, bolster public awareness of HPV vaccination, and promote equitable vaccine delivery for girls aged 9–14 across Pakistan. Organizers said these collaborations will be critical to the successful rollout and uptake of the national campaign.
