IFRP III Coordination Boosts Protection in Karachi

A coordination forum of protection and humanitarian partners in Karachi reviewed progress under the IFRP III programme, assessed field operations and post-flood needs, and agreed on measures to strengthen referral pathways, disability inclusion and inter-agency collaboration. Meetings brought together IMC, SPARC, Inspire Pakistan and UN-IOM staff to identify operational challenges and produce practical recommendations to improve service delivery across the city.

The quarterly coordination meeting, held at the IMC office, provided partners with an opportunity to review IFRP III progress and exchange operational insights from the field. Participants assessed the broader impact of ongoing activities in Karachi, identified coordination bottlenecks affecting referrals and service continuity, and developed actionable suggestions to streamline joint responses and information-sharing.

In a focused follow-up meeting chaired by UN-IOM representatives Shahana Islam and Jamal Khatoon, IMC and partner organisations examined recent IFRP III updates alongside evolving needs in the wake of recent floods. Discussions highlighted trends in referral cases, gaps in response capacity, and priority areas requiring immediate attention to protect vulnerable populations.

Both meetings concluded with a shared commitment to reinforce referral pathways, improve coordination mechanisms, and advance disability-inclusive approaches within programming. Partners agreed to implement practical solutions emerging from the discussions and to maintain regular coordination to monitor progress and adapt interventions as needs evolve.
