Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja held a series of high-level meetings in Dubai during GITEX 2025 to advance Pakistan’s Digital Transformation agenda with UAE counterparts. Discussions focused on strengthening digital governance, accelerating AI innovation and expanding data infrastructure to support a modern technology ecosystem in Pakistan.

In a meeting with H.E. Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Minister highlighted key national initiatives including the Digital Nation Pakistan Act and the National Data Exchange Layer. Conversations covered efforts to promote a cashless economy, smarter public services and the practical integration of AI across government and industry to drive inclusive growth.

Both sides agreed to broaden cooperation on advanced technologies, data-driven innovation and cross-border startup investment, creating pathways for UAE capital and expertise to support Pakistani scaleups. A meeting with Mr. Massimo Falcioni, Chief Competitiveness Officer at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, focused on expanding digital investment and forging technology partnerships that can accelerate joint projects and market access for startups.

The Minister also met Mr. Muneeb Anjum, CEO of AHAD, for detailed talks on cybersecurity priorities essential to Pakistan’s Digital Transformation. The dialogue emphasized building digital trust through robust security solutions, enhanced incident response capabilities and stronger public-private collaboration to boost national cyber resilience and sustain the innovation ecosystem.

These engagements at GITEX underscore a shared commitment to deepen UAE–Pakistan ties in AI, data exchange and cybersecurity, and to leverage investment and technical cooperation to support Pakistan’s transition to a digitally enabled economy.
