Strengthening Pakistan Maldives Ties Through Trade

A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Maldives, led by Speaker H.E. Abdul Raheem Abdullah and Dr. Shaista Khan Jadoon MNA, visited the FPCCI President Secretariat in Islamabad to explore ways to deepen Pakistan Maldives ties.

The talks centred on expanding trade and investment opportunities and boosting tourism collaboration, with further focus on infrastructure development and the sustainable use of fisheries and marine resources. Delegates emphasised strengthening people-to-people connections as a foundation for long-term economic cooperation.

The meeting was attended by senior business leaders including Tariq Khan Jadoon, Vice President FPCCI, along with Dost Ali Jan, Acting President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries, and Asif Javed, Vice President of the same chamber, as well as presidents of other chambers and representatives from the wider business community.

Participants noted that practical steps in trade facilitation, joint tourism initiatives and collaboration on fisheries could create immediate opportunities for the private sector while strengthening Pakistan Maldives ties at both government and community levels.

The delegation’s visit underlined the shared interest in translating dialogue into tangible projects that benefit businesses and coastal communities in both countries, signalling a renewed momentum for bilateral cooperation.
