Russia Joins Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Islamabad

The Russian Federation has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Islamabad, a gathering that now counts 45 member states committed to dialogue on faith, interfaith harmony and climate action. The confirmation follows a formal invitation from the conference committee and underscores the event’s growing diplomatic significance.

Organizers say the agenda places equal emphasis on fostering religious understanding and coordinated legislative responses to the climate crisis. Ms. Misbah Khar, Ambassador to the conference, described the forum as a unique platform where parliamentary leaders can translate shared values into practical cooperation on social cohesion and environmental resilience.

Russia will be represented by a senior Deputy Speaker known for active engagement in inter-parliamentary diplomacy, a participation that organisers believe will strengthen multilateral collaboration. The involvement of a high-level Russian delegate highlights how the Inter-Parliamentary Conference is attracting influential parliamentary voices to build bridges across regions and faith traditions.

The Senate Secretariat confirmed preparations are advancing to professional diplomatic standards, with thematic sessions, innovative formats and plans for high-level bilateral meetings. Pakistani hosts emphasise that the conference will showcase parliament-led initiatives that connect citizens, reinforce tolerance and mobilise collective climate action across participating legislatures.
