CNS Hockey Tournament Delivers Thrilling Matches

Thrilling action continued at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore during the 4th Chief of the Naval Staff All Pakistan Hockey Tournament, where CNS Hockey intensity was on full display with two hard-fought contests on Wednesday.

Port Qasim Authority and National Bank of Pakistan played out a dramatic 3-3 draw in the opening match. Aleem Usman stood out for Port Qasim with a stunning brace, and Amjad added a crucial third to keep their hopes alive. For NBP, Faizan maintained his rich vein of form with two composed finishes while Aamir supplied the equaliser that ensured the points were shared.

The match produced end-to-end moments and persistent pressure from both sides, but resilient defending and several sharp saves kept the scoreline level. For his authoritative presence and timely interventions between the posts, Mazhar Abbas of NBP was named man of the match.

In the later fixture Pakistan Army asserted themselves with a convincing 5-2 victory over Pakistan Rangers, announcing their credentials as genuine contenders. Scoring was spread across the Army line-up, with Shahzad, Ahmed Sarwar, Usman, Saaifullah and Wasim Akram each finding the net in a well-balanced attack. Rangers responded through Ammar and Hamid Ali but were ultimately outpaced by the Army’s forward thrusts.

Zain Farooq received the man of the match honour after controlling the midfield with calm distribution and creative spark, a performance that helped Pakistan Army dominate possession and tempo in key phases.

Teams will observe a rest day on Thursday ahead of the semi-finals on Friday, October 3, 2025, where Navy meet PAF and Mari Energies take on Customs. The CNS Hockey tournament remains a focal point for domestic teams as they vie for silverware and momentum ahead of the knockout stages.
