Two explosions in Hangu have killed three police officers, including SP Operations Asad Zubair, police confirmed. One other officer was wounded and rushed to hospital for treatment.
According to police, militants targeted the Ghalmina check post with an initial blast. After receiving the report, SP Operations Asad Zubair led a heavy contingent toward the scene to secure the area and assist the troops at the post.
While en route, the police vehicle was struck by a subsequent bomb explosion, killing three officers on the spot and leaving another injured who was immediately transferred to hospital. The attack forms part of the Hangu bombings that have raised alarm across local security circles.
Security forces have tightened measures in the affected area and police say they have launched extensive search operations to track down and arrest those responsible. Investigations and on-ground searches are continuing as authorities work to stabilise the situation and prevent further attacks.
