Strengthening Islamabad Beirut Ties
Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, met with the Ambassador of Lebanon, H.E. Abdullaziz Issa, at the CDA headquarters on October 29, 2025 to discuss ways to deepen city-level cooperation. The meeting focused on strengthening Islamabad Beirut ties and exploring practical steps to boost urban collaboration between the two capitals.
Randhawa said Pakistan holds Lebanon in high esteem and expressed the desire to further solidify the sister city relationship between Islamabad and Beirut. He highlighted ongoing efforts to make Islamabad greener and more attractive, noting the role of the Margalla Hills in enhancing the city’s natural landscape and referencing Islamabad’s origin under a master plan established in 1960.
Ambassador Abdullaziz Issa commended the CDA’s measures for the city’s beauty and development, calling Islamabad an extraordinarily green and naturally beautiful capital. He praised the city’s greenery and cleanliness as both surprising and impressive, conveying appreciation for the visible improvements underway.
The meeting also covered plans to relocate diplomatic missions to the Diplomatic Enclave as part of a broader upgradation strategy. Chairman Randhawa outlined proposals to beautify the Diplomatic Enclave and expand recreational and sports facilities for residents and diplomats. Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to strengthen cultural and municipal links, reinforcing long-term Islamabad Beirut ties.
