Tri Services Guard Greets New COAS CDF
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, was presented with a tri-services guard of honor at the General Headquarters as he took on the combined responsibilities of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces. The ceremony at GHQ was attended by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI(M), Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Air Staff, and senior officers from the three services.
Addressing officers of the tri services, the COAS CDF commended the extraordinary courage and conviction shown by the nation and the professionalism of the armed forces during Marka-e-Haq. He described the Multi Domain Operations executed in Marka-e-Haq as a textbook example and a case study for future warfare and paid deep homage to the martyrs whose sacrifice remains the pride of the country.
The COAS CDF emphasized the need for a formalized framework for tri-services integration and synergy, stressing that the Armed Forces must align with evolving realities of warfare that now encompass cyber space, the electro-magnetic spectrum, outer-space, information operations, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He termed the newly instituted CDF Headquarters historic, saying it will provide the required integration, coherence and coordination across the services to face future threats under a unified tri-services umbrella.
In his closing remarks he articulated a vision for the Armed Forces to be culturally forward-looking and combat ready, able to deter aggression while enjoying the full confidence of the nation. The ceremony also included the presentation of awards to heroes of Marka-e-Haq from the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force in recognition of their acts of valor during the conflict.
