Advancing Postdoctoral Fellowship at IIUI

The Faculty of Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad organized a five-day workshop as the first academic engagement for the Postdoctoral Fellowship Batch III 2025–26, bringing together eight postdoctoral fellows from universities across Pakistan for intensive proposal development and research refinement.

The workshop sought to strengthen research proposals, sharpen analytical skills, and ensure alignment with IIUI’s vision of producing ethical and impactful scholarship. Dr Fouzia Ajmal, Incharge Academic Affairs, opened the program and highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture that supports the goals of the Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Fellows presented their proposals and received targeted sessions from experienced facilitators. Prof Dr Muhammad Amir discussed Outcome-Based Education to help frame measurable research outputs, while Dr Muhammad Sherbaz Ali addressed the practical role of Artificial Intelligence in contemporary research. Mr Waseem Ahmed of NIDM–NDMA examined disaster resilience through knowledge investment, linking research to national priorities.

Methodological strengths were reinforced through sessions on qualitative research by Prof Dr Riaz Shad and quantitative research by Dr Abdul Rahman Saad AlAjlan. Proposal review and feedback were provided by Dr Zarina Akhtar, Dr Munazza Mahmood, Dr Asad Abbas Rizvi, and Dr Azhar Mahmood, guiding fellows toward academic precision and scholarly clarity in line with the Postdoctoral Fellowship objectives.

Dr Azhar Mahmood also led supervisors capacity building to improve mentorship quality, while Dr Fouzia Ajmal conducted a practical session on research report writing and IIUI’s report format to standardize submissions and reporting. Participants further visited the IIUI Central Library, where the Chief Librarian oriented them to academic resources and digital research tools available to fellows.

The closing session reviewed the progress made during the workshop and outlined the next phase of the fellowship, reaffirming IIUI’s focus on academic excellence, ethical research practices, and measurable knowledge impact. The Postdoctoral Fellowship continues to advance research leadership across Pakistani universities through sustained mentoring and institutional support.
