On 2 November 2025 in New York the Consul General of Pakistan attended as chief guest the Gilgit Baltistan Cultural Fest and Day of Accession organised by the Soni Watan Organisation of Gilgit-Baltistan. The gathering drew a large number of community members and guests who came together to celebrate the region’s cultural heritage and the historical significance of its accession to Pakistan.
In his address the Consul General underlined Gilgit Baltistan’s vital contribution to Pakistan’s unity and development and highlighted the importance of promoting cultural diversity abroad. He praised the Soni Watan Organisation for mobilising the diaspora and said such events strengthen bonds between communities and the home country.
The event featured cultural performances and community interaction that showcased the traditions of Gilgit Baltistan and reinforced the Day of Accession’s place in collective memory. Organisers and participants reiterated their commitment to preserving cultural identity while supporting Pakistan’s broader social and economic progress through active engagement overseas.
