Strengthening Pakistan Azerbaijan Ties in Baku
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met President Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Palace in Baku on Friday, 7 November 2025. Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was also present for the discussion that focused on deepening Pakistan Azerbaijan ties.
The Prime Minister thanked President Aliyev for the invitation to attend Azerbaijan’s Victory Day celebrations and felicitated the government and people on their historic triumph in the 44-day Karabakh Liberation War against Armenia. He said the Victory of Azerbaijan served as a beacon of hope for oppressed peoples striving for self-determination, including people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
The two leaders reviewed the entire span of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen their multi-layered cooperation in political affairs, trade and investment, energy, connectivity and defence. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience, which the President graciously accepted.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated President Aliyev for signing the historic peace agreement with Armenia earlier this year. President Ilham Aliyev thanked Pakistan for its consistent support to Azerbaijan in its just struggle against the illegal occupation of the Karabakh region and acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability in South Asia.
