Advancing Girl Child Rights in Khanewal

SPO’s Aawaz II team organized a district dialogue in Khanewal on the International Day of the Girl Child, assembling government department representatives, civil society members and local community leaders to reflect on the status of girl child rights and collective steps forward.

The event featured screenings of impactful Aawaz II videos, a dynamic panel discussion and a Signature campaign where participants made symbolic and personal commitments to treat girls equally, uphold their rights and contribute to a more inclusive society. Conversations during the session emphasized the everyday realities girls face in schools, health centres and community spaces across Khanewal district.

Participants identified clear, actionable recommendations to advance girl child rights, including improved coordination among relevant departments, strengthened community-level advocacy and awareness, the integration of digital skills training for girls within existing education frameworks, and expanded access to health and protection services for young girls. The proposals aimed to connect policy, service delivery and grassroots engagement to produce measurable results.

Local stakeholders underlined the importance of sustained follow-up and cross-sector collaboration to translate commitments into practice. By centring community voices and practical measures, the dialogue sought to lay the groundwork for ongoing initiatives that support girls’ education, safety and empowerment across Khanewal.
