Driving Better Humanitarian Coordination in Pakistan

Mr. Raja Rehan Arif, Head of the Organization Development Department at PRCS National Headquarters, outlined current humanitarian challenges facing Pakistan at the Partnership Meeting in Kuala Lumpur. He emphasised the need for collective action and stronger humanitarian coordination to address growing needs and protect vulnerable communities across the country.

Speaking to representatives from partner organisations including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mr. Arif highlighted PRCS’s auxiliary role to public authorities and the value of aligned efforts to optimise relief and recovery work. He said improved coordination enables faster, more effective response and reduces duplication in times of crisis.

PRCS continues to expand nationwide initiatives that strengthen preparedness, enhance operational response and build community resilience. These efforts range from capacity building at local branches to coordinating logistics and information sharing, all intended to make humanitarian coordination more seamless between public agencies, volunteers and donors.

Mr. Arif urged partners to translate discussions into practical cooperation that reinforces early warning, resource mobilisation and community-level preparedness. Strengthening humanitarian coordination, he noted, is essential to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need and that communities are better prepared for future shocks.
