Showcasing Kashmir Photography at PNCA

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts opened the book launch and photo exhibition KASHMIR. WAIT & SEE by Belgian documentary photographer Cédric Gerbehaye, presented by the Pakistan Photo Festival in collaboration with PNCA and Kashmir Council EU. The exhibition assembles long-term photographic narratives that examine human rights, memory and the human condition.

The Kashmir photography on display traces lived experiences across the region and invites reflection and dialogue. Gerbehaye, author of Congo in Limbo, Land of Cush, D’entre eux and ZOONOSE, is a recipient of awards including World Press Photo and the Amnesty International Media Award, and his work is held in major collections worldwide.

The inauguration attracted a wide cross-section of attendees including Tahira Aurangzeb, Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan; Farah Naz, Parliamentary Secretary; Asad Rehman Gilani, Secretary NH&CD; and M. Ayoub Jamali, Director General PNCA, along with diplomats, senior bureaucrats, artists, photographers and students. Organizers and the curator offered remarks followed by a guided walkthrough of the exhibition.

Organized to foster cultural exchange and encourage informed conversation on Kashmir, the exhibition offers Pakistani audiences, researchers and photography students an opportunity to engage directly with documentary practice and the narratives behind the images. The presentation highlights the role of Kashmir photography in documenting contested histories and promoting meaningful dialogue.

The exhibition and book launch are open to the public at PNCA and will run until 28th January, with daily timings from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors can access further details through PNCA and Pakistan Photo Festival channels.
