Empowering Women Artisans Through Sindh Exhibition

Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), attended the 17th Sartyoon Sang Exhibition in Karachi at the special invitation of SRSO CEO Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro. The event presented the exceptional craftsmanship of rural women from across Sindh, highlighting the rich traditions and skill of local women artisans.

During his visit, Dr. Mallah praised SRSO’s continued work and described the organization as a strong example of how targeted support can financially empower rural women while promoting traditional art and craft on national and international stages. He specifically acknowledged Mr. Kalhoro’s role in building a sustainable platform that enables women artisans to earn with dignity and remain economically self-reliant.

Sindh Rural Support Organization operates as a non-profit focused on poverty reduction through community empowerment. SRSO’s initiatives emphasize skill enhancement, capacity building, community-led infrastructure, income generation, enterprise development and micro-credit support. By mobilizing local communities and strengthening technical and managerial capabilities, SRSO helps women artisans and other community members harness their own potential and lead their development journey.

The exhibition in Karachi strengthened market visibility for Sindh craft and reinforced efforts to create sustainable livelihoods in rural areas. The IBCC visit and SRSO’s continued programming underscore a growing focus on practical measures that allow women artisans to translate traditional skills into reliable income and long-term economic resilience.
